Do No Wrong: The Making of Altruistic Royal Tusk:

With ‘Calm Down’ this was a full circle moment for me. Not a lot of people may know this, but I directed my first music video for The Unfortunates back in 2018 with their single ‘Caroline’. It has been an absolute pleasure working with this band over the years and getting to know them on a personal and professional level.

With the documentary, I wanted to really hone in on the raw emotions of the final show and also honour the band’s legacy and journey along the way. I think the documentary celebrates the incredible accomplishments of the band and incites memories for long-time fans, and also invites new listeners to enjoy this awesome catalog of music that you can find on any music streaming platform.

Calm Down This is Only the End Documentary

I am so proud of how the film turned out. It was a three-person camera team (myself included), it was raw, it was up-close and personal and I couldn’t be happier with the final result.

Play it loud and don’t forget to rate it on Letterboxd!

With Do No Wrong, I wanted to take a fly on the wall approach to the documentary. Let the events unfold and take the viewer into the recording studio – the ups and the downs and all the emotions that came with recording a new album, Altruistic, and on top of that, recording a new album in 2020 when the world was shut down.

I can’t say enough good things about the Royal Tusk dudes. Absolute professionals in every sense of the word. Watching them create and collaborate over the several months of filming gave me a new appreciation for the entire musicmaking process. Not to mention, the focus and attention to detail required to self-produce an entire album is nothing short of amazing. What a huge accomplishment and I am so stoked for the new album to drop.

A huge thank you to Sandy, Quinn, and Dan of Royal Tusk for letting me hang out with them and capture their process for the world to see. Working with these guys was truly an inspiration and I am so thrilled for this release! Also shoutout to McDonald’s Coffee, the Unofficial Sponsor on this Documentary for keeping us all caffeinated along the way!
